We are very pleased with Desert Oaks. Under new management, they have really turned things around for their residents. We helped a good friend move in recently and her quality of life has significantly improved. The smile in her voice each time we talk with her is evidence that Desert Oaks is doing things the right way.

Absolutely as bad as it gets. This used to be called the Meadows where an unsupervised resident was found frozen in a freezer. Google it.

Great staff and quality care. There are a lot of people who try to make this a place your loved ones can enjoy life even while needing a bit of assistance.

Deseret Oaks is a very nice, clean and upbeat place! My mother n law Nancy is very happy there! She absolutely loves the dining hall and their menu; and it looks like a nice restaurant setting. We have been especially impressed with the Administrative Staff- Travis ( the Administrator) goes over and beyond to get to know all the residents by name; and literally helps in every area needed ( including the dining hall-if they’re short handed); extremely efficient and kind!! We were also really impressed with Kerrie (I believe she’s the Regional Marketing Director); she also goes over and beyond to help you- very nice lady! She really worked hard to get my mother n law in to their facility. Drake was also very helpful and caring! All the staff have been really Amazing!

I have refrained in putting in a review until now after reading all the one star reviews including stories about not getting refunds. My mother was there for two years before her passing. She was in the memorycare and the first year she thrived there. They had the Best activies director named Tami . She had a wonderful knack for getting patients to participate in daily activties. She left the end of 2023 and shortly thereafter the "freezer" incident happened plus found out there was no RN or Executive Director. About that time Frontier took over this facility. My mothers care deteriorated all through 2024, the activities were practically nonexistent. Too much to address here. Unfortunately my mother passed away before I could move her. My advice is to do your homework on these facilities. After 3 months I did get a partial month refund but it was not easy. I sent emails every week reiterating the terms of the contract over and over like a broken record. Mostly got no answers or one lame excuse after another. Finally Travis worked with me and I did get it, but I had Small Claims court papers ready to submit. It's shameful to have to work like a dog to get my mothers hard earned money back.

I have been a resident at the Meadows for almost 2 years. I have loved it here, but since Frontier took over I have been terribly disappointed. We are not getting all of the services that appear on my contract. We are not getting the cable that we have been promised. The internet is spotty. Sometimes I can use my streaming services and Sometimes I can't. I wish Frontier would pay their bills so we can have what has been promised to us.

**March 2025 and still no refund.

*Unfortunately my loved one passed away last year and trying to get a refund from this facility has been a nightmare. Changing my review to one star because of this. Nobody should have to deal this on top of grieving for a loved one.

We toured multiple locations while trying to find the perfect place for my dad and immediately knew the The Meadows at Escalante was it! Their staff is professional, patient and caring. They are always kind and make time to provide updates. The building itself is light, bright and good energy so we enjoy spending time there. It's clean, well maintained and secure. They offer many activities for the residents and show genuine compassion for everyone. This transition has been hard for me and my family but knowing he is in good hands takes a lot of weight off my shoulders. I strongly recommend this facility!

Elder Abuse: Negligent acts causing a risk or harm to a person aged 70 or older, including psychological and financial abuse. My mother passed away April 2, 2024. When a deceased resident passes away the policy is to lock their door. She passed on a Monday I went on Wednesday to clean out her belongings. Her door was unlocked. Her jewelry boxes, music boxes, jewelry, clothes, toiletries, purses, and other items were gone.
She passed on April 2, 2024. She had paid her rent of 3400.00 before April 1st. I went in the office to find out when she would
receive her refund. I was told in about 30 days. In May I went in again and they said I should receive it any day. I was told it was submitted but returned on 7-2-24 because a signature was missing, this is 3 months after her passing. I not only called several times and left messages but no one returned my calls. I aslo went in and talked with the director. I was told they changed bookkeeping companies and it was taking longer than expected to transfer the books. I continued to call and received the same answers, "the check is being processed". I again, went in on 1-10-25, this is 8 months after mom's passing and talked to the new director Maryanna. She faxed in a "refund payment request." Since January 10, 2025, I have called and left messages for Maryanna to call and update me on the refund of $2,606.67. I have received no calls and no messages. On March 3rd, I spoke to Travis about the neglect and lack or respect and dignity for my mom. She was paying 3400.00 a month and they owe her 2606.67, it has now been 11 months since her passing. On March 3rd, I talked with Travis, the new Executive at the Meadows. Travis told me he had a meeting in 2 days and would call me back with an explanation of this disgraceful and reprehensible conduct. It is now March 17, 2025. I have had not one call to me with any kind of explanation. Be careful. In 16 days it will be ONE YEAR since my mom's passing with no answers and no refund. This review is a warning to others. It is NOT the money IT is the deplorable, disrespectful, honor and honesty that has been and taken from My Mother.

We scheduled a visit for my father. I called thirty minutes prior to confirm, and nobody answered the phone. When we arrived, nobody assisted us. I called the main line again while sitting in the lobby. The phone at the reception desk rang. No staff came. I inquired with kitchen staff and was told "maybe the receptionist is in the bathroom." For twenty minutes? There were a couple elderly residents walking around the lobby - seeking assistance. They too were ignored by staff. Based on first impressions - I will not be placing anybody that I love at The Meadows.

This facility seemed like a good and caring and integrity based facility. While our mother was there she was treated well and seemed to have been given reasonably good care. However, since she passed away last July, they have been unwilling to give us the small refund of only 1700 dollars. They have been very good at passing around the blame regarding why they haven't issued the refund, but disappointing and frustrating in their treatment of our family in the aftermath. If this facility is so financially strapped that it cannot issue a small refund, then I am led to question the management's ability to direct the center and even care for its patients.

Sincerely,
Frustrated customer. 😠
